The Table

Lastly in the House of God, we come in on the ground floor and when entering we see a table laden with nine kinds of fruit, they are, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance. They are the Fruit of the Spirit.

The Fruit of the Spirit simply put is the maturation of the believer by the Holy Spirit that dwells within the believer. Upon conversion we are given the Holy Spirit as a comforter, as one called alongside. The Holy spirit of God dwells in our heart and brings back to our memory the things that we learn about God. As we grow in faith we develop more and more kingdom attributes until the process of learning is complete. Then we are said to be mature. The fruit that we produce from this mature state is called the Fruit of the Spirit. The Fruit manifests in Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperence.

The first thing that the Holy Spirit allows us to develop is love. Love is many faceted and begin with patience. The lessons of patience appear before us from the start. We are allowed to suffer and in doing so we develop our patience by the act of long-suffering. We know that all thing work together for the good to those that love the lord to those that are called according to His purpose. And so we wait on the Lord, but sometimes we don’t have to wait long. The lessons of kindness appear next. After kindness we learn to not envy. And love unfolds. Arrogance falls aside, rudeness vanishes, we learn that love bears all thing believes all things hopes all things endures all things and finally love never fails. That statement about love is the most telling. If we want to succeed truly we must take a hold of love and ride love into eternity.

In our walk with the Holy Spirit we develop Joy. This is the famous Joy that the world gives not, and because the world doesn’t give it to us, the world cannot take this Joy that the holy spirit gave us away from us.

The Holy Spirit then gives us peace. I have heard that this peace that the Holy spirit gives us is internal peace. We are at peace with ourselves even while the world whirls around us.

Patience is defined in scripture as long-suffering. That is suffering while patiently waiting on the Lord God to work things through in his perfect timing.

The Holy Spirit matures us into Gentleness. We become gentle beings from the inside out it is not an act, we are truly gentle-hearted.

The Holy spirit matures us into goodness, Goodness is God ness or the doing things as God would do them. We develop the need to be holy as the Lord God is holy.

The Holy Spirit develops our Faith which is having our teaching and training and using them effectively.

The Holy spirit allows us to display Meekness, a manner that is gentle.

Finally the Holy spirit matures in us Temperence, the having control of one’s self.

This table in the House of God is laden with food for us that is nutrition-packed and will sustain us on into eternity.
